For the Glasgow Free Tour, we will meet at 10:15 am between the Lion sculpture on George Square. From here, we will also visit the statue of the Duke of Wellington, which is a perfect example of Scottish ironic humour. His statue is just a stone’s throw away from Buchanan Street, Glasgow’s main shopping street.
During the Scottish Enlightenment, Glasgow was a city of innovations and inventors, and we will talk about the most important ones on this tour. You will discover how the Industrial Revolution took this metropolis to the top of the world and learn about one of its great architects of the Victorian era, Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Together, we will discover hidden secrets along the banks of the River Clyde, which is the reason we’ve got this city in the first place, and stroll along towards the old Tollbooth.
Finally, you will hear the story of St Mungo, patron saint of the city, and his miracles. Then turning down into the "Merchant City" to explore Glasgow's Secret past. After 2 hours of sightseeing, the tour will end at Glasgow Cross the heart of Medieval Glasgow.
It is totally free to book, but the guide greatly appreciates to be rewarded once the tour ends. Some people leave £10 and others £50, pay what you think the tour deserves.)
